new departure lounges in Terminal A at Chopin Warsaw airport

Investment’s objective consisted of the redesigning the existing warehouses in the Northern Pier in order to create additional departure lounges (gates) for passengers traveling into non-Schengen zone. The functional program also included the creation of the passenger service utilities, such as sanitary nodes and technical rooms. A fragment of the Southern Pier (office areas) was also rebuilt.

It was an interesting experience for our team to come back to the project we created ourselves after that many years and observe how the building faced the passage of time. We were surprised to realize that some functional solutions that seemed impossible to implement 10 years ago are now very much in demand. We also appreciated the Terminal’s modular design!

In the interiors, we used finishing materials similar in color and form to those in the rest of the Terminal: shades of gray dominate in the waiting rooms, the attention is driven to the entrance cubes (vestibules) accentuated with the flag orange color. The new part of the façade was made in a transom and mullion system with translucent glass packages in terms of aesthetics, similar to the existing façade.
